Training Specialist

The West Virginia Rural Water Association is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Training Specialist for its 2% HELP program. This position develops and conducts training sessions for water and wastewater operators around the state of West Virginia. The qualified applicant will work from home. Knowledge of the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Clean Water Act, the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health Rules and Regulations, West Virginia Department of Environmental Rules and Regulations and the Public Service Commission of West Virginia’s Rules and Regulations are important.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Sciences or a related degree or at least ten years of experience working for a water system operating a water plant, a portion of which should be in chief operators position

Holds a Class III or Class IV water operator license

Demonstrate strong math skills

Ability to travel extensively throughout the state and have overnight stays

A reliable means of transportation

Experience in public speaking

Experience in developing curriculum and teaching that curriculum to students

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel

Chief Water Plant Operator / Department Manager

The Town of Bath has a full-time opening for a Chief Operator and Manager to run the Berkeley Springs Water Works plant. To be eligible for this position, candidates must have a Class 2 or higher certification.

To qualify for this position, candidates must know all aspects of managing a municipal water department and operating a water plant. Candidates also must know the distribution jobs that handle issues in the field. Candidates must possess or be willing to work toward attaining and maintaining appropriate West Virginia Health Department Certifications.

This is a highly responsible administrative and technical position involving the directing of all utility activities at the Berkeley Springs Water Works. This position involves the application of a combination of administrative, supervisory, and technical knowledge. This position furnishes technical advice to the Town of Bath Water Committee concerning public works projects. The position works closely with contactors in the planning, design, and construction of capital improvement projects. The person holding this position will work with consulting engineers on projects undertaken by the Town.

Salary for this position will be commensurate with proven experience, abilities, and/or qualifications. All qualified applications will be considered.

Customer Service Technician / Meter Reader

Putnam Public Service District has an immediate opening for a Customer Service Technician/Meter Reader in our Meter Section/Customer Service Department. This position requires customer support skills required to maintain, install & modify water-metering equipment, as well as read and test meters. The work is primarily conducted outside on a daily basis regardless of weather conditions; exposed to odors, noise, vibrations, chemicals, extreme dust & fumes, etc. The physical demands of the position include but are not limited to the following: standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling &/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, sitting and other activities typical to working in an outside environment. The duties include, but not limited to: maintain reliable attendance record; follow established policies & procedures in conducting service, installation & repair of equipment to ensure proper working order; using test equipment & recording working orders; posses & maintain a valid WV driver’s license; operate company vehicle according to established safety procedures; accurately read all meter systems, both manually & using computerized meter reading equipment; comply with all rules & procedures outlined in employee handbook; maintain organization of work area including meter-testing equipment and responsible for meeting established work goals; and ability to obtain state mandated certifications as required. Good written & verbal communication skills are required. Good math skills; an ability to comply with instructions; work independently without supervision; maintain a positive & helpful working relationship with co-workers & the general public are necessary for this position. Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Knowledge & operation of Appalachian Software Inc. (ASI) software is a plus. A successful candidate must be able to pass a drug screening.
